This report discusses the state of accessibility of Kaleyra Video on Android and iOS SDK v3. The assessment was conducted using Apple iOS Accessibility Inspector (iOS) and Google Android Accessibility Scanner (Android).

Compliance status: Non-fully compliant

The results indicate that the product is currently not fully compliant with all defined accessibility standards and that developments are needed to ensure full adherence to the standards.

Accessibility standards not compliant

  • Dynamic Text Size: Not supported throughout the user interface, impacting users with visual impairment.
  • Inverted colors, contrast enhancement and transparency reduction: Not fully supported, limiting options for visually impaired users.
  • Voice Over/Talk Back: Not fully supported, there is a lack of audible descriptions for items, affecting visually impaired users.
  • Keyboard navigation not fully supported on all UI elements.
  • HandsFree: Not supported on Android. Calls can be answered/rejected with vocal actions and with bluetooth devices.
  • Assistive Touch: Zoom capability not triggerable on all videos and interaction is with gestures only. Menu interaction is with only gestures. Making it difficult for users with visual, motor, and cognitive impairments.

Accessibility standards compliant

  • Mono audio: For those who have hearing problems in one ear and use hearing aids, it is possible adjust the balance by increasing the volume in a given ear, so as not to lose even a word.
  • Visual&Vibration Alerts: Every time something arrives (incoming
    calls, messages, etc.) there is a visual and vibration alert.
  • Allows communication in LIS.
  • Video and Chat communication: For those that have hearing problems a visual communication is provided by integrating our solution.
