Utility Template - Sub-category: Calling Permissions Request

The Calling Permission Request for the utility template allows you to obtain the end-users' consent to receive calls from your business through a voice call over WhatsApp. The call includes permission for any event triggered by a user action or request.

Note:

All the following paragraph applies for Templates created within a WABA ID associated with the Kaleyra WhatsApp API v2.

When the end-users receive the calling permissions request template message, they will have the following options:

  • Allow Calls - You can call the end-users anytime.
  • Temporarily Allow Calls - You can call end-users within one week.
  • Not at this time - You cannot call the end-users.

Perquisites

  • The WhatsApp number must have voice enabled feature.
  • Only after the voice service is enabled for your WhatsApp number can utilize the Calling Permission Request template.

You can edit the header (only none or text is supported), body, and footer. No button is supported for this utility template.

To create the Utility Template for Calling permissions request, perform the following steps:

  1. Follow the steps 1 to step 3 of Create WhatsApp V2 Marketing Template.
  1. In the Setup step, perform the following:
    1. In the Template Name field, enter the template name. A maximum length of 512 characters is supported. Only alphanumeric, space, and underscore are allowed.
    2. The default language for the template is English. If you wish to change the language, click the drop-down in the Language field, and then select the language of your preference.
    3. Click the drop-down in the Categorisation field and select the Utility option.
    4. Click the drop-down in the Sub-Categorisation field and select the Calling permissions request option.
    5. Click the drop-down in the WABA ID field and select the WABA ID through which you want to send a message using the template.
  2. Click Next. The Content step appears.

Note:

A preview of the message that will be delivered to the end-user based on the current template is displayed.

  1. In the Content step, perform the following:
    1. (Optional) A header can be added to the top of template messages. Click the drop-down in the Header field, and select from the following options:
      • None - No header is set.
      • Text - Set the header as text. Each template may include only one text header. After you select the Text option, enter the header text.
    2. The body component represents the core text of your message template and is a text-only template component. Templates are limited to one body component. In the Body field, enter the body text. You can use dynamic variables to insert data dynamically into your template. Use the dynamic variables inside the template by simply entering {{. The new Variable Samples field appears at the bottom of the Body field. Enter the variable details. A maximum length of 1024 characters is supported for the body.
    3. (Optional) Footer components that appear immediately after the body component. Templates are limited to one footer component. In the Footer field, enter the footer text. A maximum length of 60 characters is supported for the footer.
    4. The default validity period for your message is 10 minutes. To set the validity period of the WhatsApp marketing message before it expires according to the configured timing in case the end-user's WhatsApp account is unreachable, select the Set custom validity period for your message check box. If the message is not delivered within the configured timeframe, you will not be charged, and your end-user will not view the message. You can check your webhook for message delivery status after the validity period has expired. You should only set a low validity period if you have automatic backup delivery methods in place.
  2. Click Next.
    The Preview step appears.
  1. Preview the WhatsApp template details and click Submit. The order status for marketing template gets created successfully.

The new template will be in pending status. It gets either approved or rejected after the Meta's review.
