Create an SMS Template

To create an SMS template, you should first send it for approval to the Kaleyra support team through your Kaleyra.io account. Our support team will verify and approve it. We will send you an email to notify you about the status of your template. In case your template is not approved, you will receive an email with the reason for rejection.

Note:

If you are an Indian customer, ensure that the template you want to create is registered with the DLT portal.

To send an SMS template for approval, perform the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your Kaleyra.io account.
  2. Go to Channels and on the SMS section, click Manage.
  1. Go to the Templates tab and click Add Template.

The Add Template page appears.

You can add the template using the following options:

Import

The Import tab lets the user upload multiple templates at once using a .csv or .xls or .xlsx file.

Under the Import tab, you can view the following fields:

  • Sender ID - Click the arrow next to the SenderID field to view the list of your Sender ID. You can select one or more Sender IDs to be associated with the template you are requesting. For more information on creating a sender ID, see the Create Sender ID page.
  1. You can drag and drop the file OR click the file to upload.

Note:

The template content should be at least 15 characters and only .xls, .csv, and .xlsx format files are supported.

  1. Click Download sample file to download the sample file.
  1. Click Save to save the changes.
  2. Click Cancel to cancel the application and return to the main page.

Create New

The Create New tab lets the user create a single template.

Under the Create New t ab, the following fields appear.

  • Title - Add a Title to the SMS template.
  • Purpose - Click the arrow next to the Purpose field to view the list. The available options are:
  1. OTP - Select this option to create an OTP SMS template.
  2. Marketing - Select this option to create a promotional SMS template.
  3. Transactional - Select this option to create a transactional SMS template.
  4. Transactional DND - Select this option to create a transactional DND SMS template.
  5. M2M - Select this option to create a Machine to Machine SMS template.

Note:

The sender value specified in the file is considered with higher priority. The sender selected from the list is treated as the default sender.

  • Sender ID - Click the arrow next to the SenderID field to view the list of your Sender ID. For more information on creating a sender ID, see the Create Sender ID page.
  • Template ID - Enter the Template ID. This is the template ID from the DLT Platform. This field is mandatory only for businesses based in India.
  1. Enter the content of the template in the given space which is a mandatory field.
  2. To create a Media Template, click Attach File and browse to the location on your computer to upload a media file.
  3. To embed a shortened hyperlink as part of the SMS template, click Insert Link, type the URL you want to shorten, and click Save to save the shortened URL.

Note:

The attached media and inserted links are automatically converted to shortened URLs.

  1. Click Save to save the template and initiate an approval process.
  1. Your template is now sent for approval. You can view the list of created templates and their status in the Templates tab.
